‘In our religious scriptures it has been advised to get up before sunrise.’ However, nowadays, children have a bad habit of getting up late in the morning because they are awake till late at night due to studies or some other reasons. Staying awake till late at night is bad for health. On the contrary, it is said that ‘early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.’ It means that one who sleeps early and wakes up early is blessed with long life, good health and becomes wealthy.’
1. The disadvantages of getting up late
In our religious scriptures it is said that, ‘one who gets up late goes to hell.’
A. Waking up late makes us lazy.
B. Children who wake up late are unable to complete their homework and personal chores on time, which may result in becoming anxious or depressed.
2. Advantages of waking up early
In earlier times the sages would wake up at Bramhamuhurt (An auspicious time at dawn before sunrise - ideal for spiritual practice) and recite Vedas. At night the environment is Raja–Tama predominant, that is, more distress is experienced; whereas the environment in the early morning is pure and holy, peaceful and cool. The chanting done at this time is with bhāv (spiritual emotion) and one is also able to study better.
The children who regularly wake up early are happier. Children, make a habit of waking up before sunrise. Encourage your siblings too to inculcate this good habit.
